Having an Indigenous engagement strategy for your business is and will continue to be critical for future business success in the construction and maintenance industry. More and more clients are building in requirements for Indigenous engagement and employment opportunities as part of their contract awards.

Further, as baby boomers retire and we replenish our workforce with traditionally under-represented groups within the population, it is important that we create respectful, welcoming and inclusive workplaces for all workers.

Indigenous peoples are playing a greater role in the workforce and will continue to do so. According to a CBC News article from October 25, 2017, Statistics Canada reports that Indigenous peoples are the fastest growing component of the Saskatchewan population and will make up one in five people in Saskatchewan by 2036.
